On Finding Inspiration When Traveling

I’ve always had a lifelong love of travel. I was extremely privileged to live overseas when I was younger and was raised by parents who valued exposing their children to other countries, traditions and cultures. We traveled extensively as a family and it planted a seed in me to always want trips to look forward to.

That being said, I never intended to work in travel. I enjoyed travel and as I had more disposable income, I had more trips. Which turned into more travel posts on wit & whimsy. I adored the research phase of booking a trip. The ticket was purchased so onto the next! I would build Google Maps and scour social media. I would build Excel documents and collaborative documents and carefully plot and plan my days.

Then off I’d go, documenting the trip on social media and then sharing exhaustive “guides” on my blog often afterwards.

In 2019, when I came home from a trip to Paris, I launched what would become En Route to Rêverie as a hobby. I knew I could help people plan better trips to Paris so decided to do so. I never imagined it would turn into a fully fledged business. But nearly six years later, I now gratefully own and operate both my content business (w&w) and En Route to Rêverie.

But, as I’ve been in growth mode for En Route to Rêverie for the last several years, the way I traveled changed. Whenever I would arrive to Paris in particular, I would hit the ground running at warp speed. I tried to fit in as much as humanely possible every day from sun up to sun down. I shared snippets along the way and teased exclusives I’d discover that would just be shared with clients. My Story views were never higher than when I was on trips back in the day. So I felt obligated to be sharing loads of my trips and how I was filling my days.
