Q&A - June 2025
Grab your coffee and let's catch up - Why I'm not as present on IG stories anymore, if I'm hiring this year, how I split my time between France & the U.S., if I have a clothing budget and more.
With my changing of my content cadence and the way I show up online I’ve not had many opportunities for Q&As with this lovely community of mine of late. So I asked you guys what you wanted to know and you dropped a lot of Qs to me. Here’s all the ones I could get to this time around! This month’s edition: Why I'm not as present on IG stories anymore, if I'm hiring this year, how I split my time between France & the U.S., if I have a clothing budget and more.
And just a housekeeping note that this post is too long for email so I recommend opening it in a new browser tab or on the Substack app.
Why aren’t you posting on Instagram Stories anymore?
This question was asked 10+ times! I honestly didn’t stop doing so intentionally. It just sort of happened.
I actually thought I’d start back up on my first trip to Europe earlier this year. But, truthfully, instead what ended up happening was…I just didn’t? One day became two days which became three and I didn’t miss it. I still kept taking photos and videos and I distilled certain days into Reels instead. And after one week? I just decided to not play “catch up.” I was overwhelmed at the thought TBH.
I continue to shoot my day to day but instead now those snippets will show up in my content in some way or another over time. On Reels, on TikTok, on my 2 Substacks and on witwhimsy.com.
I wrote more about my decision to step back from the daily Stories in this post for paid subscribers if you’d like more insight:
On Finding Inspiration When Traveling
I’ve always had a lifelong love of travel. I was extremely privileged to live overseas when I was younger and was raised by parents who valued exposing their children to other countries, traditions and cultures. We traveled extensively as a family and it planted a seed in me to always want trips to look forward to.
Where do you consider your primary platform these days? Substack?
My blog, wit & whimsy remains my #1 priority. Then Substack. Then Instagram.
Are you leaving Instagram?
Absolutely not! Just using it in different, more intentional ways that allow me to have more creativity and mental wellness. The platform remains a core piece of my businesses but it isn’t filling my cup via the community in ways it once used to.
Has it been a positive move from a business perspective to not be as present on IG anymore?
I still feel very present on the platform. I post nearly every day to my feed. (Imagine what it takes to create 20-30 videos/carousels per month!!)
For not being active as much on Stories…I am likely making less money given I am not posting links every M-F anymore but right now that’s ok. The quietness I’ve found in my every day as a result has been a worthwhile trade off.

I have a blog post dedicated to long flight outfits!
Where do you get your flower subscription from?
I shared the service I use in this post:
Do you create a clothing budget? Do you get comped pieces? Love your closet!
No, I don’t have a specific budget. I tend to be pretty brand loyal and when I am looking to shop I check out new arrivals from my go-to brands. The nature of this job also always has me seeking out what’s new.
I shop most before my trips when I am going to be on camera and shooting content and need or want specific looks for specific settings and to drive sales of those pieces as affiliate income makes up a significant part of my revenue.
I get gifted pieces here and there. Always when I am signed on with a brand for a paid campaign but then also other brands I accept gifting from on a very select basis. I turn down most gifting offers because I only have so much space and I don’t want to be wasteful. I never agree to post if I’ve been gifted something. I want to try it and experience it before I would ever share it with my community.
What’s the best butter I can buy in the U.S. and where can I get it?
I buy President butter if I want French butter in the U.S.! It is widely available at U.S. groceries.
Any favorite Paris fashion influencers you can share?

Favorite white sneakers for summer?
These, for over seven years.
How do you spend your time between the U.S. and France?
Every year is different. I am allowed 90 days in the EU every 180 days. So I have a tracker to ensure I align to this restriction. Following Brexit, my trips to the UK don’t count towards these days.
As I look at my year, work trips always take a priority. I personally like to always have a short winter trip to Paris. It’s quiet and cozy and I get a lot of inspiration and creativity on these (often solo) trips.
And then I typically always have a Spring trip with my photographer every year that is purely for content creation and scouting. It’s the most intense trip I take every year but gives me content I’ll use all year long.
Then, I usually have a variety of work trips sprinkled in the first few months of the year that are more agent-trips where I am joining a trip with other agents or going because of a tradeshow. Or, for example, I’m invited on a trip like this one. I get amazing invites often that I can’t take advantage of due to my schedule but when the stars align these trips offer amazing experiences to scout and test things on behalf of our clients.
Come Fall I inevitably end up back in France most Septembers it feels like and then I like to spend two weeks in October in Paris every year. My work travel picks back up around the last few weeks of the year as well so Q4 always feels like a lot of back and forth between NYC, the UK and France.
The last few years I have averaged 8 trips to Europe - primarily France and the UK.
How do you decide where to visit in France and England as you plan your trips?
When I expanded En Route to Rêverie to take on all of France and England, it became a priority for me to seek out opportunities and plan specific trips that would allow me to re-familiarize myself with regions where our clients were interested in going. After London and Paris trips, we book the most in the South of France so that region remains a top priority for me to explore and scout in. We try and vet as much as we possibly can in person so our recs are of the best quality possible. We don’t rely on Instagram or “hidden gems” that proliferate the internet but rather as a small team we try and get to as much as we can to evaluate with our own standards.
At the onset of the year I always try and decide what regions are priorities for me as well. This year it was Burgundy and to return to Bordeaux. Unfortunately Bordeaux will have to wait until 2026 unless something comes up in the second half of the year that I can opt-into.
We also look at what regions or particular hotels are trending or our clients are asking about. So earlier this year I found myself back in The Cotswolds to test out two hotels to better understand what kind of clients we should place at each.
I also prioritized some personal travel in France this year as I wanted to finish up my 30s in two places that meant a lot to me.
In short, I always have some priorities as I map things out and then I also try and leave some room in for spontaneity to see what may come up on the calendar as the year goes on.
Favorite property in Paris (Left Bank) for a 24-hour stopover?
I personally wouldn’t choose to do the Left Bank for a 24 hour stopover unless you’re flying out of Orly! I can’t consult on hotels without knowing budget, taste, amenities you’re interested in, etc.!
Have you shopped at Balzac? Insights on quality? Sizing?
I haven’t ever tried anything on from there! I’ll try and pop into one of their Paris stores at some point this year.
I love your style! Is it easier to buy the quality items you buy in France as opposed to the U.S.?
I do most of my clothing shopping in the U.S. from these brands. But I tend to buy designer accessories overseas because of the price being significantly better plus getting the VAT back.
Favorite wallet? My Cuyana curved zip is too big for a lot of bags.
I’m afraid I won’t be much help here because I haven’t used a proper wallet in years and years. I bought a little card case back in 2018 and never looked back! I love that it means I never am carrying excess things. Maybe something from Smythson could work?
What to wear to Backstreet Boys in Vegas this July when it’ll be so hot?!
Whenever I’m worried about sweating I rely on black linen so you can’t see my sweat! Maybe something cute from Sezane or Reformation?
Any chance you’ll be expanding your team this year?
No plans to expand my teams as of now. However, if you’re based in Paris, I am looking for someone to help me with a specific forthcoming project. If you’re interested in hearing more, please email me at meghan [@] enroutetoreverie.com with your CV and why you’d be interested in hearing more about the project.
What are your summer plans?
I’ll be sharing all my summer plans + trips with paid subscribers of The Noteworthy Edit in just a few days!
Do you have plans for more meetups in Paris?
Not at this time! It’s hard to prioritize this when I’m unsure what my community is like in Paris in terms of who may come out / what followers would be in town / etc! There are so many demands on my time when I am in Paris so I have to really be so particular with my schedule I’m afraid.
Will you be hosting another group trip? I was so sad I couldn’t make the dates for the one you have coming up.
I don’t have any plans to at this time! But we’ll see how September goes - maybe I’ll change my tune!?
The [Mini] Summer Wardrobe PDF
It feels like summer is in full swing here in New York City and I for one am ready to embrace the season ahead. In terms of fashion…give me all the woven bags, strappy sandals and swingy dresses; stat.

“ My blog, wit & whimsy remains my #1 priority. Then Substack.”
This may be your intention. But this reader perceives that your substack has taken precedence over your blog. It sort of feels to me that you’re posting what I’d characterize as leftovers to your blog. Which hey, I pay for your substack so I’m not disappointed that I find better content here.
