Q&A - July 2025
Grab your coffee and let's catch up - my preferred methods for getting around NYC, if En Route to Rêverie is expanding, how I reset after travel, what I am not wearing/buying atm + plenty more.
With my changing of my content cadence and the way I show up online I’ve not had many opportunities for Q&As with this lovely community of mine of late. So I asked you guys what you wanted to know and you dropped a lot of Qs to me. Here’s all the ones I could get to this time around! This month’s edition: my preferred methods for getting around NYC, if En Route to Rêverie is expanding, how I reset after travel, what I am not wearing/buying atm + plenty more.
July Q&A
What are some things you’re no longer wearing or buying?
No plans to be wearing for the foreseeable future: bermuda shorts, claw clips in public, scrunchies in public, really white denim, “bubble” jeans, bubble hems or “old school” denim jackets. For denim jackets I’m opting for more updated styles like this one from Bash Paris I recently got (size L) and this one that’s a part of the Nordstrom Sale and reminds me of one I’ve owned for years from Veronica Beard and still adore.
But, as always, wear what you like and feel best in! I just like to consistently edit my closet and be mindful of what’s staying and what’s no longer serving me. (Related: How I Clean Out My Closet).
Do you have plans to start sharing more on Stories again? I miss you posting more DITL.
The plan is there is no plan tbh. My mental health has been better this year with less use of Stories, less scrolling and less DM management. When I feel like I am missing that aspect of my community, I’ll pick it back up. But for now I’m really enjoying my IG feed content comments, my IG Broadcast channel (when I remember to use it!) and the Substack Notes feature.
What should be in our Fall capsule wardrobes?
Per usual, I am counting down for Fall. I love refreshing all my favorite fall posts on w&w and in August I’ll begin work on our annual Fall Capsule PDF, too! This PDF is where I will break down a mood board for the season, my capsule wardrobe must-haves for outfit building blocks and the trends I am seeing and plan to embrace. This PDF is for The Noteworthy Edit paid subscribers tier only so no time like the present to become a paying subscriber!!
How do you reset from travel to being at home? First things you do when you get back?
This post is due for a refresh but a lot of it holds true! I book a hot yoga class immediately upon returning home, I try and hold the day after travel to be meeting-free, I prioritize catching up on sleep, I drink an all-veggie green juice every day for several days and drink loads and loads of water!
Q&A - June 2025
With my changing of my content cadence and the way I show up online I’ve not had many opportunities for Q&As with this lovely community of mine of late. So I asked you guys what you wanted to know and you dropped a lot of Qs to me. Here’s all the ones I could get to this time around! This month’s edition: Why I'm not as present on IG stories anymore, if…
Have you gotten to know French people in your time in France?
Of course! I am so lucky to have many French people in my life. Now I just need to let them help me improve my French more by actually practicing instead of always speaking English with them 😉 Many of my friends in Paris are also expats, however. From all over - Australia, the U.S., Canada, the UK, etc.
Tips for booking international flights?
I trust The Points Guy and also Google Flight alerts. Because I am Delta loyal however I usually try and only fly them as the status has major perks when it comes to baggage fees, upgrades, etc. that matter to me more personally than a slightly less expensive airfare on a different carrier.
Best cobbler in the city?
I share the one I’ve been going to for over a decade in my post about My Favorite Shoes + How I Take Care of Them!
What pajamas are we wearing in summertime? I am at a loss.
I am a sweaty sleeper so in summer I like to wear this set by Lunya, this set by Lake, this set by Eberjey or a little romper by Eberjey.
Can you share the bowls you show on your Recipes highlight?
Of course - I eat 90% of my meals out of them! The bowls are by Jenni Kayne and I love them today as much as when I first started using them four years ago (code MEGHANDONO10 will get you 10% off).
How are you thinking about Substack vs. your blog now that you’re a few months in?
I am honestly treating Substack as I used to my old newsletter! I previously sent out emails via FloDesk and I’ve moved those over to Substack.
I see Substack as my place for less evergreen, more of the moment content. My blog is more for searchable, evergeen content. I’m constantly updating old posts to make them fresh, to ensure links work and remove any products or pieces that I no longer recommend or are no longer shoppable (where applicable). I update and republish any timely posts head to toe season after season and year after year as long as I feel they are still relevant.
The blog is for longtime readers using the site as a resource for certain things (my reviews of certain products ex: witwhimsy westman atelier) or size guidance for certain brands I wear often (ex: Jenni Kayne or La Ligne) or posts that detail what they have seen me wear or use a lot (ex: my bag collection or my favorite shoes) and for people googling for specific things (i.e.; best shoes to wear in Paris) who don’t “know” me but want to find a trusted resource.
The long form content on w&w is designed to be SEO-driven, be an always-on resource and have longevity.
What is your favorite hand cream you’ve bought in Paris?
The Chanel Hand Cream and the Soft Services Theraplush are my current favorite hand creams but didn’t buy either in Paris. You could also consider C’est La Creme by Violette FR which is sold at Le Bon Marché in Paris.
Tips for sightseeing/fashion in the summer heat?
I am a sweaty gal so I rely heavily on black linen so you don’t see my sweat as much.
Some of my favorite beat-the-heat products are in my Summer Necessities Guide and don’t miss my Linen Guide.
Are you back to eating dairy?
I removed dairy for 15 days in January and didn’t see enough of a change to warrant removing it all. That being said milk is very much off the table for me still and I have to avoid excess cream or things like burrata. In Europe I find I can indulge more in their products though than when stateside.
That being said, I’m beginning to work with a nutritionist to try and sort out my ongoing bloating issues and just try and build some better habits overall. We’ll see how it goes!!
Favorite table linen/bath shop?
I don’t personally use table linens! For bath towels, I am obsessed with my Parachute Bath Sheets. So big, so soft and so cozy to wrap yourself in post-shower.
My other towels at home and all my bedding is Brooklinen.
What watch do you wear that’s not your Apple watch?
I reveal this birthday gift to myself in my On Turning 40 essay where I share how I celebrated.
29 Habits and Practices that Improved My Life in my 30s
I’ve always been someone who loved and cherished routines. But in my 30s, I really, really leaned into it. Cultivating habits and savoring routines became a way to appreciate the little things and ensure I was making time for things that would fill my cup.
How do you get around NYC/ Subway? Walking everywhere? Uber adds up!
Subway girl!! And my own two feet around Brooklyn. I get really car sick so I try and avoid Ubers unless it is late at night to going to/from the airport.
Any plans for future IRL events?
Yes! I’m excited to share I will be hosting another NYC event this coming September! Stay tuned for more details.
Go to summer cocktail? I need inspiration!
Currently on a kick with The Last Word and also love a Hugo Spritz in summer!
Do you have plans to expand travel planning countries?
We will see! No En Route to Rêverie expansion planned for the next year at least as we are booked and busy for the year with just France and England!
What countries would you guys want to see us offer though?
