The What's Underneath Edit
Let's open up my lingerie drawer.
Let’s admit it…the pieces underneath your clothes are rarely the most exciting things to shop for.
They’re not the shoes that get complimented at dinner or the coat everyone asks you about. They’re not the handbag you save for or the dress you plan an entire trip around.
And yet — I’d argue they’re some of the most important pieces in a wardrobe.
Because I’m of the mind that when your undergarments are uncomfortable, visible, unsupportive or constantly needing to be adjusted, it affects how everything else looks and feels.
Over the years, I’ve become increasingly particular about what earns a permanent spot in my drawers. I want pieces that are comfortable enough for long workdays and travel days, invisible under clothing, genuinely supportive and ideally beautiful, too.
I also think this is one of those categories where finding the right pieces matters far more than owning a lot.
So today’s Noteworthy Edit is dedicated to the undergarments I consistently repurchase, recommend and reach for most often.
From the seamless thongs to the strapless bra I refuse to travel without, these are the pieces that make my wardrobe function better.
So let’s get into the what’s underneath edit!
Everyday Underwear Worth Rebuying
I will caveat I wear thongs 6 out of 7 days usually. I know! I know! But I’ve been this way for as long as I can remember - at least 20 years now?! I hate panty lines. I’m of the belief they can ruin an outfit and I honestly wouldn’t be caught dead wear anything other than thong with things like leggings or skirts, etc.
Say what you will - but this is my personal opinion. I know some people loathe thongs so to each their own! I will say several of the styles I’m going to mention below do come in brief counterparts - so check those out if you’re anti-thong.
Cuup Modal Thongs
These are like wearing nothing. Second skin. So comfy and perfect for everyday wear.
They offer this fabric in a variety of styles for those of you that aren’t thong kinda gals.
EBY High Waisted Thongs
If I’m wearing anything remotely clingy, silky or lightweight these are usually what I reach for.
The reason I love them is because they smooth without feeling compressive. They stay put, disappear under clothing and don’t create awkward lines under trousers or dresses.
I’ve tried a lot of seamless underwear over the years and many either roll down, cut in strangely or lose their shape quickly after washing. These don’t.
They’re particularly good for:
satin skirts
silk dresses
linen trousers
white denim
travel days
long dinners where comfort matters
One of my most worn pairs, hands down.
Negative Underwear
Negative is one of those brands I discovered last year and I’ve been happy with nearly everything I’ve tried.
Everything feels incredibly comfortable, subtly sexy and thoughtfully designed. Their pieces have a very minimal, modern feel while still being comfortable enough for everyday wear and their pajamas are, in fact, worth the hype (I recommend you size up).
But when it comes to their underwear - my favorite underwear from the brand is the Whipped Dipped Thongs (light as air) and the Base Thongs (perfect for everyday wear). Honorary mention to Sieve Dipped Thongs. I recommend sizing up in this brand’s underwear!
Harper Wilde Bliss Bikini
If I’m going to wear underwear that’s not a thong, it’s usually this style. It has that “barely there” feeling while still offering enough coverage and stretch to stay comfortable throughout the day.
I often reach for these when I’m working from home, traveling or wearing relaxed clothing where I want comfort first.
But usually I’ll go to wear the Bliss Thong or Bliss Highwaist Lace Thong.
Stripe & Stare Cotton & Lace Thongs
These feel a little prettier and more feminine while still remaining practical enough for everyday wear. A good pair for WFH days, travel days or just everyday.
The lace is soft rather than scratchy and the cotton blend makes them breathable year-round.
The Bras I Reach For Constantly
Bras are admittedly the category where I’ve become the most loyal. Because I have tried so many bad bras in the past! Truly, I feel like I’ve tried all the trending, most viral ones and they never were comfortable enough or supportive enough. I have a large chest and finding good bras that don’t make me feel insecure has been a journey.
We’ll continue to bras and shapewear below the paywall!
